International Scholar celebrating 20 years of service
View(s):On 1st July 1999, International Scholar Educational Services opened as a service organisation offering career guidance and student placement services to students wishing to pursue higher education.
At the time there were only a few organisations that offered such services. Locally there were not many reputed educational institutes offering private education. The internet was in its infancy and wasn’t that useful as a source of information. The local universities were plagued with recurring student unrest and new students had to endure long waiting lists for admissions. The terrorist attacks had heightened. Children completing secondary schooling and wanting to move forward were in need of guidance.
Internationally things were moving forward at a rapid pace. The Information Technology revolution had just begun, offering new career directions but bringing with it, its own teething problems such as the Y2K, and was in need of professionals to meet demand. The lack of information sources was a real barrier for students wanting to move forward and take advantage of the new career opportunities that had started to surface resulting in education programmes hitherto unheard of, being offered Globally.
It was in this backdrop that International Scholar opened its doors to share the very extensive experience and knowledge its founders had in the area of education. It was not a panacea to all problems of a student wanting to pursue higher education but helped overcome the information gap which was a real blessing at the time.
International Scholar has pioneered in opening up new education destinations, such as Malaysia and Vietnam, a move that has helped to meet needs of a wide cross section of students. These pioneering efforts made education in a world top 100 university at an affordable price a reality to many students. Over the years many deserving students have been helped to obtain scholarships to study in leading universities in the world. When it opened its door to serve the public there was only one institute in its fold. Today the company represent over one hundred universities and institutes in 10 countries.
Over a period spanning two decades, International Scholar has built a reputation as a very ethical, professional and yet a very friendly organisation. A fact that is confirmed time and time again by the very happy clients who have given over 500 glowing testimonials and re produced in company web site. There are over 200 Google reviews giving a rating of 4.9+ star.
The company is very active in the Corporate Social Responsibility area, and have established a trust, The Scholar Benevolent Trust’ to serve the disadvantaged. Through the trust company offers scholarships to children that includes medical students, engineering students, and children in primary and kindergarten. Among the past recipients there are Doctors and other qualified professional.
All members of the senior management of International Scholar are professionals and have studied worked and lived in Sri Lanka, UK and Australia. The senior staff of the Scholar Team are long serving members many clocking a service of 10+ years.
