‘Sama Kumaru’- Children’s movie with a Buddhist theme

Sama Kumaru’, a children’s movie based on a tale from the Jataka stories, directed by Nishantha Seneviratne and produced by U. A. Palliyaguru, is now being screened in theatres around the country.

The children’s film with a Buddhist theme, stars a number of veteran stars including the late Wimal Kumara de Costa. Others in the cast are Rohana Beddage, Geetha Kanthi Jayakody, Rahal Bulathsinghala and up and coming stars like Himaya Bandara, Dineth de Silva, Nanda Wickremage, Deshapriya Bandara, Ashoka Priyadarshana and Shan Ferdinando. The group of children including Dimitry Palliyaguruge, Dheerthi Palliyaguruge, Akash Gunatillake and Rishon Lehensa stars in ‘Sama Kumaru’.

Behind the screen musical score is by Mahesh Jayawardena, assistant director is Chamara Madhusanka and art director is Ajith Rohana. Production manager is Sachith Fonseka and make up is by Apeksha Sewwandhi, lighting is by Sankalpa Hettiarachchi, the cinematographers are Majaka Maptiya and Upul Prajath and the editor is Nirodha Weranga.

Producer U. A. Palliyaguruge entered cinema directing ‘Super Six’ and directed television series like ‘Crime Scene’ and produced the teledrama ‘Thuththiri’. His entrance to cinema as a producer was with ‘Peni Makuluwo’.

The film is now being screened at Regal Colombo, Lido Borella, Majestic cinema and a number of CEL circuit cinemas.
