A Government Analyst’s report has been called for to determine the cause of the death of a newly wedded British woman, who died at a leading hotel in Galle.

The woman, Usheila Patel, 31, and her husband Khilan Chandaria 33 had both fallen ill after they ate a sandwich ordered from the hotel and consumed Vodka from a bottle they had bought overseas.

A senior Police officer involved in the investigations said the Vodka bottle and an uneaten sandwitch had been sent to the Government Analyst’s Department, along with samples of vomit for the investigators to determine the cause of the death. He said they had checked the CCTV footage outside the hotel room and found that there been no external intervention by any persons.

He said there were also no external injuries on the woman who died. Police said that Mr Chandaria has been requested to remain in the country until the investigations were completed. The couple were married less than a month ago in north London and had travelled to Sri Lanka for their honeymoon. Pictures courtesy dailymail.co.uk
