India’s 70th Republic Day was celebrated in Colombo with multiple events – a special cultural event “Strings of Peace” featuring legendary Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan along with sons Aman Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash at the BMICH on  January 25 and a garden reception on Saturday, January 26 at India House, the High Commissioner’s residence. Indian High Commissioner Taranjit Singh Sandhu led the celebrations which were attended by some of Colombo’s prominent personalities.

Meanwhile Hospital Street was a hot destination last weekend as Colombo’s foodies, especially lovers of Indian food took the chance to indulge at the Indian Street Food Festival held by Fairway Holdings (Pvt) Ltd. The food fest washeld to coincide with India’s 70th Republic Day celebrations.
