‘Let Colors In’ an event organised by the event management students of MSI

Event management is a growing and dynamic profession that has seen significant growth in recent years. This has led to the emergence of event management as a professional skill being recognised and needed by the fast-growing services industry.

On the 12th of January the students of MSI’s Certificate in Event Management programme organised a Holi Event ‘LET COLORS IN’ with an aim to raise a charity fund in aid of Sucharithodaya Niwasaya. This Event was organised under the guidance of Mr. Sam Peiris, Director of MSI and Dr. Piyavi Wijewardane, Head of Academics –MSI. Committee members of Holi event; Achani Cooray, Rashmi Weerasinghe, RomaaniDe la Motte, Roshan Herath, Myeisha Alvez Paranavithana, Mihiri Kaushalya and Thahani Seneviratne were working hard to make this event a success with the support of the student council of MSI which was led by Saajd Mukeeth, former Student Council President.

Games and dancing fused as the crowd splashed holicolours on each other to the beats thrown up by the Dj. Food stalls were arranged of a Varity of cuisine, allowing the crowd to enjoy the evening with luscious snacks and beverages. The rumbling beats of the waves surely did whisper the unlimited excitement the event brought to the participants to cherish. The event not only nourished existing bonds but also blossomed new friendships creating a very amiable atmosphere.

The Students were able to successfully conduct the event with the support from the lecturers of Event Management Programme; Ms. Sachini Pannilage, Mr. Husnie Rauf, Ms. Malithi Neluhena and Mr. Jeffry Silvaas a part of their curriculum putting into practice a combination of theoretical and practical modules with the knowledge and skills that they learned during their course. The learning that students obtained through this Event ‘LET COLORS IN’ can surely be stated as unique & relevant which helped students gain hands-on experience, with students ending up being highly skilled and industry relevant.The event was sponsored by Elephant House, Snow Monkey and Virakesari.

The Event Management Programmes offered by MSI Colombo are in Collaboration with MSU Malaysia (one of Malaysia’s top universities).
