High scores in all three matches
The three Premier Plate Championship matches played around the metropolis saw the batsmen dominating proceedings on the second day with scores of over 400 runs being scored and five centuries being recorded.
In the match between Negombo CC and Ragama CC saw Negombo CC resuming from their overnight score of 312 for 3 going on to make a score of 474 for 9 declared with Prasansana Jayamanne making an unbeaten 122. Ragama CC in their turn ended the day on 127 for 2.
Denuwan Rajakaruna and Kosala Kulasekera made knocks of 117 and 108 not out, as Badureliya SC, from their overnight score of 338 for 7 declared after reaching 473 for 9 against SLPA CC. At stumps, helped by an unbeaten ton by Adeesha Nanayakkara, SLPA ended the the day on 233 for 5.
For Tamil Union Bhanuka Rajapaksa made 108 while associating in a big partnership of 189 runs for the third wicket with Savin Gunasekera. This enabled them to post a formidable score of 430 runs in reply to Moors SC’s 321.
All three matches will continue today.
