Anuruddha Higgoda of Otters AC ended his round robin campaign of the ongoing 66th National Snooker Championship with an unbeaten record when he recorded back to back wins on day three played at the Moors SC billiards table yesterday.

Higgoda in the morning session coasted to a convincing four frames to nil win over M. Sherifdeen of Army in the seven  frame encounter and then followed it up with another easy win against M.R.M. Razeen of Sea Endless in the evening session with a same winning margin.

Meanwhile T. Thanji of BRC who pulled off a shocking win over fancied M.M. Mubeen of Army on day one recorded his second successive win when he got the better of club mate M.R.T. Chandana by four frames to one while last year’s runner up M.F.M. Fazil of the Cue Club who began his campaign on a winning note with a win against Azeez Hinoon of MICH had to concede a walk over in his second game to S.S. Dinuruwan of Army as he arrived late for the match which was scheduled to be played at 3.00 p.m.

The 66th National Snooker Championship conducted by the Billiards and Snooker Association of Sri Lanka and sponsored by U.W. Sumathipala and Group of Companies is being contested by 31 players comprising of 15 top ranked and 16 who qualified in the two qualifying tournaments that were held.

The championship will be continued today with 12 matches down for decision starting from 9.00 a.m. onward.
