Defeat MAS Holdings 3-1 in the final
Commercial Bank of Ceylon (ComBank) ‘A’ defeated MAS Holdings (MASH) 3-1 in the final to clinch the ‘Dennis De Rosayro’ Trophy at the 42nd Mercantile Hockey Association’s (MHA) Men’s 7-a-side Tournament 2018 concluded at the P. Sara Stadium last Sunday.
In the finals of the ‘A’ Division, ComBank ‘A’ shot into an early lead with Anju Hewage sounding the board twice and Milan Ariyawanse once. Shaheed Kuthubdeen scored the only goal for the losers. Janith Witharana (ComBank) was adjudged Player of the Match while Shevantha Rajapakse (MASH) won adjudged Best Goalkeeper.
In the ‘B’ Division final for the Singer Trophy, Singer Sri Lanka (Singer) beat ComBank ‘B’ 1-0 on penalty strokes, with the score 0-0 at the final whistle.
Seylan Bank (Seylan) defeated John Keells Holdings (JKH) 1-0 on penalty strokes with the score 0-0 at the long whistle. Seylan won the Lifebuoy Trophy as ‘C’ Division champions. The ‘Edmond J. Cooray’ Trophy was won by Hatton National Bank (HNB) ‘B’ when they beat MJF Exports (MJF) 2-1 in the ‘D’ Division finals.
Richard Peries Group (RPG) and Sampath Bank (Sampath) ‘B’ emerged winners in the ‘E’ Division and ‘F’ Division respectively, to win the Ceylon Cold Stores and MHA President’s Trophies.
