Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa dominate the charts

For a seventh straight week Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa are in control of the No: 1 slot on the UK singles chart with ‘One Kiss’. The popularity ‘One Kiss’ has been extended by Dua Lipa’s live performance of the song at the UEFA Champions League Finals. Of the 33 singles Harris has released 22 have peaked inside the top 10 where he is the lead artist. Of these seven songs have topped the chart namely ‘I’m Not Alone’ (2009), ‘Drinking From The Bottle’ (2012), ‘Under Control’ with Alessio featuring Hurts (2013), ‘Summer’ (2014), ‘Blame’ featuring John Newman (2014) ‘Feels’ featuring Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry & Big Sean (2017) and now ‘One Kiss’ with Dua Lipa. Songs from Harris where he has been the featured artist and topped the UK singles chart are ‘Dance Wiv Me’ for Dizzee Rascal and co featuring Chrome (2008) and ‘We Found Love’ for Rihanna in 2011. Dua Lipa meanwhile is planning to release her second album in 2019.

Taylor Swift is one huge pop singer who has her pulse on all things current and relevant when it comes to issues that strike a chord with fans. She has the quality songs which in turn give her a good return numerically. The 28 year old now raking in the millions on her Reputation world tour which commenced on May 18. Having covered five stadiums her homeland the US alone Swift has raised over $54 million according reports. The opening show in Arizona saw her beat s box office record set by the heavy metal band Metallica in 2017. Reports which monitor tour tickets sales project Swift’s earnings to reach $400 million from the first six months of her Reputation world tour.

Clean Bandit the classical electropop crossover band have scored the only top 10 UK hit this week with ‘Solo’. The EDM track features US singer Demi Lovato has moved up from 12 to No: 10. The song is being promoted both by the trio Clean Bandit as well as Demi Lovato on their respective live performances. ‘Solo’ is the ninth top 10 hit for Clean Bandit.

It’s June but Mariah Carey has announced her ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ tour to the UK. It will be held between December 9-11. She will tour Nottingham, Leeds and London. She toured last year as well. Tickets went on sale on Friday June 8 .

All Saints will release their next album ‘Testament’ on 13th July. The all-girl group have released a single called ‘Love Last Forever’ on 31st May. William Orbit has worked with the group on the new album. ‘Testament’ will contain 13 tracks and will be the fifth album by the group. The All Saints are expected to begin a tour on 13th July.

They have broken up or taken a hiatus on three occasions since been formed in 1993. They have had nine top 10 UK hits of which five were chart toppers like ‘Never Ever’, ‘Under The Bridge’, ‘Lady Marmalade’, ’Bootie Call’, ‘Pure Shores’ and ‘Black Coffee’. The All Saints comprise Mel Blatt, Shaznay Lewis and the sisters Nicole and Natalie Appleton.
