Updating, Upgrading Vocational Training Courses Report in 2 weeks

Science, Technology, Research, Skills Development, Vocational Training & Hill Country Heritage Minister Dr Sarath Amunugama has called for a report on the modus operandi in which Vocational Training Courses (VTC) should be updated.

He issued this directive when he met Principals (Directors) of the Vocational Training Authority (VTA) and the Dept of Technical Education & Training (DTET) at his Ministry.

He briefed them how VTCs should be updated in accordance with the current needs of the country and the country’s development effort. During the course of a detailed discussion, the Minister also directed the officials to double the intake for the Training Courses (TC), reformulating the TCs to international standards, in accordance with the requirements of the labour market, the country’s current needs and the country’s development effort, and dropping TCs not in accordance with current needs.

The Minister said the report should be submitted within 2 weeks.
