Shevinda De Silva, a 15-year-old Josephian emerged champion at the Under 18 Pentathlon Swimming championship 2018 with a timing of 6:43.47 mts. The meet was held at the Sugathadasa Swimming Complex last weekend. While the ace Josephian young swimmer emerged champion, Trinitians A. Dickdeniya and Vihanga Induwara occupied the second and third positions with times of 6:50.40 and 6:54.18mts respectively.

Shevinda’s contributions to his alma mater helped them to clinch the Overall Championship. In April Shevinda won three gold medals at the National Short Course Swimming Championship concluded at the Isipathana Pool Complex. A rare feat for a youngster of 15 years old to win medals at a National swimming meet.

Representing Sri Lanka Schools Swimming team at the Princess Chulabohn Swimming Championship in Thailand this young swimming sensation won four gold and three silver medals. Shevinda also won four Gold medals at the 54th Malaysian Invitational Age Group Swimming Championship this year.

Shevinda, a swimmer with a lot of potential is sure to bring glory to motherland Sri Lanka in the very near future.
