Filling Senior vacancies through gazette notice; Akila
View(s):The Ministry of Education (MoE) is to fill senior positions in the Ministry through adverts in the gazette, instead of automatic filling of vacancies through promotions, said Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam. He said the move comes in the wake of delays in several projects, amidst complaints that the officers handled them were incompetent.
He said projects such as providing laptops to students, issuing tabs to them, introducing plastic desks and chairs, converting “Nearest school as the best school’ and the school uniform voucher programme, had either been delayed or criticised due to officials’ failure. He said some of the projects had not been implemented as well. Under the restructuring programme several transfers too are likely to take place.
