Army  BC pugilists emerged champions at the 92nd National Boxing Championship which concluded at Royal MAS Arena boxing in Reid Avenue yesterday.

Army BC are winning the national boxing championship for the third successive year and in clinching the title they won secured five gold medals a silver and three bronze medals while Slimline BC Pannala took the second slot winning two gold’s, five silver and three bronze medals.

MAS Unichela Koggala retained the women’s national title as they bagged four gold medals and four silver medals while Army BC was the second best winning one gold, two silvers and a bronze medal.

Meanwhile Army BC apart from emerging the champions also produced the best boxer of the meet in P.D.D. Maduranga wile Navy BC’s R.G.S. Kumarasinghe was adjudged the best loser.

In the women’s category J.A.D. Jayasinghe from the champion MAS Unichela team was adjudged the best boxer and H.S. Priyadharslani of Army  BC the best loser.
