Over Rs 2,700m allocated for ‘Nearest school, the best school’: Ed.Min. The Ministry of Education (MoE) allocated over Rs 2,700 million for the development projects launched under the concept ‘Langama pasala, hondama pasala’, (The nearest school, the best). The MoE started this project in May 2016, based on a concept of Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam. The MoE believes this programme will provide a successful solution to the issue of parents seeking popular schools for their children. “The primary purpose of this project is to develop the infrastructure facilities of all the schools, construct new buildings and identify reconstruction mainly in 282 National schools and 9,063 Provincial schools under this project”, the MoE said in a press release.
