Haren and Shehanthi earn accolades

Haren Nugawela from Wycherley International School and Shehanthi Gunawardene from Colombo International School crowned the top swimmers in the Under-20 age group in the Boys and Girls categories respectively at the 23rd Inter International Schools’ Swimming Championship concluded at the Sugathadasa Swimming Complex last weekend.

A total of 859 competitors from nineteen international schools competed in this championship organised by the Asian International School with Milo been the main sponsor. Nugawela won three Gold medals while establishing three meet records and Gunawardene also won three gold medals and with one record established.
On day one the lad from Wycherley International renewed two records and on the last day he went on to establish this third record of the meet. The Colombo International lass won three gold medals and went on to establish a new record on the Girls Sixteen and Over 50m freestyle event with a time of 29.14secs.

Fifteen new records were established in this edition of the championship with Lyceum Wattala represented by Diluk Jayathilake, Navodh Lakshan, Rakitha de Silva and M.H.M. Umar with a time of 1:57.05mts record in the Boys 16 and Over 50m Medley Relay.
