The contractor who undertook to construct new buildings for Good Shepherd Convent Nuwara Eliya, has abandoned work due to non-payment of dues.
The contractor, this week ended work claiming he was no longer able to continue the project, as the Central Province (CP) Education Ministry has failed to meet its obligations.

The foundation stone was laid in November 2016 at the school, which has more than 1,700 students in the Sinhala, Tamil and English mediums.
A new Technical lab was to be constructed under this project to expand its Education facilities. An existing building used by English medium students, was demolished to pave way for the new building. CP Education Ministry Officials were not available for comment. Pix & Text by Shelton Hettiarachchi.
