DSI Supersport Schools Volleyball Finals on September 22 and 23
The final set of matches of the DSI Supersports Schools Volleyball Championships will be played on September 22 and 23 at the Indoor Stadium in Bandaragama.
National level matches of the tournament will start tomorrow and will continue until September 14 at the Rajasinghe Central College in Ruwanwella.
Altogether over 2000 teams are down to participate in the District matches, of these 400 have been selected to compete in the National Level. The teams have been categorised as – Under 13 Girls/Boys, Under 15 Girls/Boys, Under 17 Girls/Boys and Under 19 Girls/Boys.
The championship was first initiated by DSI in 1999 with the collaboration of the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation and the Ministry of Education and the participation of 198 teams. The objective of the Championship is to bring together players from both the urban and rural areas in the spirit of sportsmanship and provide them with a national platform to show off their skills and gain the necessary exposure, which will help the young sportsmen, and women develop their talents and future careers in the game.
