The Sri Lanka Under-15 Football team left the country last Wednesday to Nepal, to take part in the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship which will be held from August 18 to 27. The entire competition is being held at the ANFA Complex in Kathmandu where Sri Lanka, led by Sandeepa Vaas, compete in Group ‘A’ alongside Bangladesh and Bhutan. The Group ‘B’ consists of India, Maldives and hosts Nepal.
The curtain-raiser match of the tournament was between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh which took place on Friday. Sri Lanka will play their second game today against Bhutan. The semi-finals of the competition will be played next Friday with the top two teams of each group are guaranteed a passage. The final will be played next Sunday.
