Sourcing products through renting

There is a growing trend for pay-as-you-go services. The basic idea is why own something when you can rent it only when you need it, say promoters of a new start-up. As businesses focus on their core business and innovation and operating in a lean way, rental or sharing economy models are becoming increasingly important.

Businesses have become used to buying things because that was the easiest way of getting a product. But now, access to products on demand facilitated through technology is allowing businesses to tap into flexible models that can drive better savings.

RentClub.lk is one such online marketplace that can aid businesses and individuals in sourcing products on rental schemes. By connecting businesses and rental suppliers, Rent Club creates access to different products, its promoters say.

“We figured that businesses don’t really evaluate how useful rental or share models could be to their bottom line. Often, the money invested buying certain rapidly depreciating assets like projectors and laptops could be put to much better alternative uses,” said Thawseef Jaleel, Managing Director of Rent Club.

There is also so much of idle resources within companies that could be turned into income generating assets. But many companies do not actively rent out or pursue this option due to the hassle of managing such transactions and that’s where Rent Club comes in, he said in a media release. Corporates can share details of idle assets and Rent Club will look to see ideal clients who may want to rent them out.

“The rental market is fragmented and disorganized. There’s so much of time wasted on sourcing, tracking availability and building trust between suppliers. The challenges of renting can be overcome with a platform like Rent Club,” says Mr. Jaleel.

Businesses can gain increased access to rent products they need while rental suppliers can also get increased visibility. Rent Club features a “Get Quote” option so that businesses can quickly submit an inquiry and get the details they need.

“Renting makes it easy to get the items you need to keep your business growing without requiring large capital investments. At the core of renting is the flexibility that allows businesses to choose depending on their situation whether it is practical for them to buy or rent something. Rent Club can assist corporates find products such as vehicles, laptops, projectors, sound and audio systems and even items on short and long term rent. Corporates can send an inquiry by visiting www.rentclub.lk/b2b,” the release added.
