LankaPropertyWeb.com, a top real estate online trading platform, is organising an “Investor Forum Sri Lanka’ on August 30 at the Kingsbury Hotel which will examine new Sri Lankan trends in real estate and property development.
Billed to speak are experts from Candor Sri Lanka, Jones Lang LaSalle and the China Harbour Engineering Company involved in the Colombo Port city.

The event is jointly organised by LankaPropertyWeb.com and RB Realtors & Consultants.

In a media release, the organiser said that real estate has proven over time to be a sound asset class for capital preservation and wealth creation. Its tangible, physical nature gives investors a solid assurance over paper assets while rental allows for passive income. Financing can be secured to facilitate ownership. Land can be developed while refurbishments to completed homes will yield better capital returns ranging 20 per cent -200 per cent.

“An indication of the sterling growth is evident in the rise of property values in recent years. Leading property website LankaPropertyWeb.com’s House Price Index shows that average apartment prices in Colombo (for a 3-bed) have appreciated 6.2 per cent in 2017 and land prices even higher based on asking price values. An apartment will see rental yields of 6-8 per cent typically,” the release said.
In comparison to real estate, other investment options have been slow or unexciting.
