Lyceum International Wattala are ahead on day one of ISAC

Defending overall champions Lyceum International School Wattala with 378 points took the lead on the first day of the 17th International Schools Athletic Championships (ISAC 2017) at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Sports Complex, Diyagama.

They collected these points by completing 34 final events on the first day. Gateway College Colombo is in second place with 263 points, the difference between the two schools being 115 points.

In third place is Lyceum International Nugegoda with 184 points. Leeds International School Panadura is in fourth place with 107 points.

Five new meet records were established yesterday out of which three were set up by Lyceum International School, Wattala (LISW). The others were by: Dewmini Kudavithanage (LISW) under 19 girls, 800 mtrs. 2:30.50; Krismithan Maanivanan (LISW) under 20 girls, javelin throw. Dist: 27.22 mtrs; Gayan Bandara (LISW) under 20 , boys, 800 mtrs finished the event in 1:58.50; Dehali Seneviratne (Gateway College Colombo), under 15 girls, shot putt. Dist: 8.35 mtrs and Purnima Jayamali Gunaratne (Leeds Int.) under 20 girls long jump. Dist. 5.69.

Earlier it was stated that 24 International Schools would be participating in the event but six schools kept away as there was a bomb threat at the meet. They schools which kept away are: Asian International School Colombo, British School Colombo, Elizabeth Moir School, Overseas School Colombo, Royal Institute Colombo and Stafford International School.

The main sponsors of the meet are Pearson Education with co-sponsors Revello Chocolates and special sponsors being McDonalds.

Wijeya Newspapers are the main print and media sponsor. Today is the second day of the meet.
