Dr. Nimal Lucas, former National Table Tennis Champion and for Sri Lanka player still going great guns. Recently at the New Zealand Masters Games held in Whanganui, New Zealand Dr. Lucas kept the Sri Lanka flag flying high when he won four medals – two silver and two bronze exhibiting his fine fitness and a fine display of table tennis.
In the Men’s Open Singles event for 65+ the champion paddler from the tiny island won a Silver medal just missing a Gold which was won by Tony Rutledge of Lower Hut while the bronze medal winner was David Scott of Taumarunui. As Dr. Lucas was the sole participant from Sri Lanka he was partnered by New Zealander David Scott and the pair won a silver in the Men’s Open Doubles event for 65+.
Dr. Lucas playing the Men’s over 70 Singles event won a bronze medal and in the Men’s 70+ Doubles event partnering Charlie Che Toi Chang from Auckland the pair went down fighting to win a bronze medal.  - LR
