Commercial Credit & Finance (CCF) ‘B’ ended Nations Trust Bank (NTB) ‘A’s unbeaten run, as they beat them convincingly by 59 runs and advanced to the final of the 6th ‘BMW/Hyundai’ Trophy – MCA ‘C’ Division 50-Over League Tournament 2017, in the top half semifinal, played at the MCA Grounds last Wednesday.

It was sweet revenge for CCF ‘B’, as unbeaten NTB ‘A’ – League stage Group Leader, with 5 wins in a row, had beaten them in their League stage outing, by 2 wickets, at De Soysa Park, Moratuwa.

CCF ‘B’ were 3rd in their Group, behind NTB ‘A’ and LB Finance ‘B’. They beat Peoples Leasing Co. by 70 runs in the quarterfinals.

CCF ‘B’ owe their upset win to their opening batsman, Visal Senanayake, who carried his bat out with a valiant, unbeaten 100 in 123 balls, with 12 fours, and their opening bowler, Suranga Salinda who made early inroads into the NTB ‘B’ batting, and finishing with impressive figures of 9-1-38-5.

In the bottom half semifinal match, Charith Satharasinghe’s well compiled, patient 109 in 140 balls, with 2 sixes and 13 fours, piloteed Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) to the final, when they beat debutant, DHT Cement by 46 runs, under the D&L method, at the MCA grounds last weekend.

Satharasinghe was associated in a 119-runs partnership in 138 balls, with S. Siriratne (40), for the 4th wicket.

SCB will meet CCF ‘B’ in the final to be played at the MCA Grounds this weekend.
