Pop star Ed Sheeran has confirmed that he was injured in playful gesture that went wrong and required stitches recently.  The ‘Thinking Out Loud’ hitmaker was attending a charity dinner for the East London Anglia Hospices at the National History Museum, London when Princess Beatrice (the Queen’s granddaughter) used a sword to knight singer James Blunt jokingly, cut Sheeran’s cheek, requiring the singer to be rushed to a nearby hospital where stitches were put.

Country legend Dolly Parton has started a fund to help people who lost homes in the US state of Tennessee as a result of wildfire that swept across Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Over 750 homes were destroyed leaving 15,000 homeless. The 70 year old Country singer who has sold over 100 million albums worldwide had to have her Dollywood theme park also evacuated as the wild fires raged. She is to donate $1000 per month to the effected families. The ‘Jolene’ and ’9 To 5’ hitmaker hopes to stage a charity telethon on 13th December to help raise funds for the fire victims.

Shakira is perhaps the only big global pop star to emerge from the South American country of Colombia. While she has made it big, she has also taken care of educating kids in her homeland through her barefoot foundation called Pies Descalzos. Last week one of the five schools set by her foundation was named the best school in the country based on test scores. Shakira set up the foundation to help improve the education in Columbia’s public schools in 1997.

The Weeknd’s ‘Starboy’ a duet with Daft Punk took a six notch climb on the top 10 from 8 to No: 3. Meanwhile the Canadian singer’s new release ‘I Feel It Coming’ also featuring Daft Punk took a big leap from 18 to locate on the top 10 at No: 9. It’s the second release from Weeknd’s album ‘Starboy’ and here too features the French electronic helmeted duo Daft Punk.

Sir Elton John has dismissed rumours about retirement from the music scene next year. He has on the contrary announced plans to celebrate 50 years of collaborating with Bernie Taupin in 2017.
