Bodhi; Children’s drama around an extraordinary child

Bodhi, a teleplay around an extraordinary child will be telecast at 5.30 daily on Sirasa TV.

Directed by Sanjaya Nirmal, the play narrates around Bodhi, a fatherless child who lives with his grandparents.

Usually Bodhi is weak in some activities. But, according to his horoscope he has been gifted with extraordinary talents.

His friends are Thisa, Bindu, Vinu and Punni, the only girl in the team.

These friends love to fly kites. But, Bodhi cannotmake kites and all his attempt to make one fails. Next day, as soon as waked up he sees a beautiful kite at his door step. Who made it? Who brought it? Was it from a magician?

Elated by this find, Bodhi runs to the paddy to fly it. There friends surprise to see the Bodhi’s kite reaching the sky.  As they run to Bodhi,  the kite flies to the air taking the young boy with it.

Bodhi is taken right into the deep wood by the kite and as he releases the string he falls off to a mud puddle in the middle of the woods. The boy realises that there is some magical powers within the woods.

He forgets his kite as soon as he sees the beautiful black stallion. Bodhi runs behind the stallion into the woods.

By this time his friends reach him and they  scream asking him not to go deep in to the woods. But Bodhi cannot hear  his friends. In the woods, Punni the girl in the team changes. She feels some magical power inside her body. First she throws away the chain she is wearing and then starts to relate a story.

She declares that she is not Punni anymore but  Kundali.

This takes a dramatic turn in the play and the viewers are taken to a different era.

The play introduces a group of children including Methin Jayasuriya, Lishara Lindula, Timesh Janith, Ishara Umindu, Buthsala Sasindu, Apsara Lakshani and Haritha Nipun. The other roles are played by Maureen Charuni, Clitus Mendis, Hyacinth Wijeratne, Anusha Damayanthi, G. R. Perera, Anura Srinath, Kavisekara Wickremasinghe and Mahesh Randeniya.
