This is Cricket – Don’t Worry over its (in) – glorious uncertainties

As for me, as a past Sri Lankan Cricketer, we have our ups and downs which may cause the defeat of the side one is playing. Perhaps, thanks to good individual performances, in both batting and bowling, Sri Lanka was in a position to win Test matches against Australia which was rated the best. All of us thought we were coming up in Cricket.  Then came the 50-over Cricket, where the style of Cricket played is different. This is the type of Cricket that has become prominent due to the 50-over World Cup Cricket. Hence, our Cricketers who play for Sri Lanka in this format of Cricket should know what type of Cricket should be played.

As such, the Selectors must give plenty of opportunities for a few selected players to play competitive, international 50-over Cricket.  Once a Cricketer plays for Sri Lanka, he is fit enough to come up and show confidence. I strongly feel that, it is not the Foreign Coach or Local Coach of Sri Lanka Cricket, who can make the player perform.  Also, it is high time the Cricket Board selects a pool of 30 Cricketers from which selection should be made. It is important that, whoever comes as Selectors should follow up with these players.  This is what I think, and any other past Sri Lanka Cricketer can come up with their views. Please ensure Club Cricket can produce the talent required in this respect. Let a group of Good Coaches appointed by the Board, do this job, and for the Selectors to follow up.
