On their 40th anniversary Travel Trade Sports Club held a press briefing at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel last Wednesday to reveal the key events and sporting calendar for 2015-16.  In his address at the briefing Prabath Harshakumar, the incumbent President revealed that the TTSC inaugurated in 1976, and is currently the leading sports club representing the travel industry in Sri Lanka. The history of the club goes back into late 70s when TTSC started off by staging just two sporting events – hard ball cricket sixes and soccer sevens. Under the guidance of 19 past presidents TTSC went from strength to strength in hosting an array of sporting activities and events including Archery, Carrom, Netball, Cricket, Volleyball, Football, Badminton, Bowling, Beach Rugby, Beach Soccer, Pool and motor Rallying.

The main stakeholders of TTSC is high as 147 consisting of 80 Hotels, 52 Travel Agencies, 13 Airlines and two Global Distribution Institutions. The vision of the TTSC is to provide a range of sports and recreational activities to the members of the tourism industry and with a mission of providing its members with the best sports events and recreational events that’s on par with best in Sri Lanka and to strive for excellence in all their endeavours.  Their main value of TTSC is encouraging all tourism partners in Sri Lanka to be a part of TTSC and to actively participate in their series of events.

The TTSC had already completed and will stage the following events for the calendar year 2015/16:  Soccer Sevens (January 2016), Beach Volleyball (6th February 2016), Carrom (30th April 2016), Archery (10th June 2016), Soccer Sevens (29th May 2016), Bowling (July 2016), Pool (August 2016), Hardball Cricket (August 2016), Pool (August 2016), Badminton (4th Sept. 2016), Table Tennis (4th Sept. 2016), Softball Cricket (11th Sept. 2016), Motor Rally (October 2016), Tag Rugby (October 2016), Beach Volleyball (January 2017), and Field Volleyball along with the networking social events the Travel Trade Dance (8th Oct. 2016) and the Members Evening.
