Sri Lanka Foundation’s Digital Film Academy screens Oscar awarded ‘Lost in Translation’ as its monthly film screening at 4.00 pm on May 26 at No. 100 Sri Lanka Foundation Mawatha, Independence Square, Colombo 7.

Directed by Sofia Coppola, the film was nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Bill Murray, and Best Director for Coppola and she won the Best Original Screenplay Award.

A lonely, ageing movie star named Bob Harris (Bill Murray) and a conflicted newlywed, Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson), meet in Tokyo. Bob is there to film a Japanese whiskey commercial; Charlotte is accompanying her celebrity-photographer husband. Strangers in a foreign land, the two find escape, distraction and understanding amidst the bright Tokyo lights after  a chance meeting in the quiet lull of the hotel bar. They form a bond that is as unlikely as it is heartfelt and meaningful.

The film screening will be followed by an introduction by Sarath Madhu, popular artist and discussion is moderated by Sudath Mahadivulwewa.
