The 2016 Asia Oceania Under 16 , Junior Fed and Davis Cup tennis matches, commenced yesterday at the Gymkhana and SLTA courts. A total of sixteen countries took part including the host nation Sri Lanka. In the girls Fed Cup, matches that was worked out at Gymkhana courts, at the court number one, Singapore, the number one seeded team in group A , won their tie against Bahrain in a clean sweep 3-0. Kei Yim in the first singles, defeated Redha Nazli 6-0, 6-0 and in the second singles, Charmaine Seam had the better of Maram Sharif beating in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. In the doubles game, Hui Ng and Kei Yim came on top against their rivals Redha Nazli and Maram Sharif 6-0, 6-1.

In the Group B, Lebanon won their both singles matches to win the tie against Vietnam 2-0. At the time of this article going to press, the doubles game was continuing. Lebanese are the number two seeded team. In Group C, the number three seeded team Kyrgyzstan won their tie against Nepal 3-0. And in Group D, the hosts Sri Lanka came on top by winning the tie 3-0 against Cambodia. Lankans are the number four seeded team. In the first singles, Anika Seneviratne defeated Sreynoch Ho 6-0, 6-0. In the second singles, Anya Gunawardena had the better of Sreypov Hour 6-1, 6-1. In the doubles game Anya Gunawardena partnered by Janali Manamperi defeated Sreynoch Ho and Sreypov Hour in straight sets 6-0, 6-1.

In the boys Junior Davis Cup matches played at the SLTA courts, in Group A Kazakhstan, the number one seeded team won their tie against Iraq 3-0. And in Group B, Syria the seeded two team won their tie against Bhutan 3-0 as well. Pakistan, the seeded three team had the better of Cambodia by winning the tie 3-0. Saudi Arabia, meanwhile won their tie against Singapore 2-0.  Lebanon won their first singles game to go ahead 1-0 against Turkmenistan. The second singles and doubles game was about to be played. The hosts Sri Lanka won their tie against Bangladesh 2-0. Inthujan Selvarathnarajah defeated Mohammed Istiak 6-1, 6-1 and in the second singles game Avinda Perera defeated Faruk Hossian 6-2, 6-3.
