“Secca Team”, a television drama which provides a rare window into the complexity of the multicultural society and the encounters between characters, their tangled lives and worlds is now being telecast every Saturday at 8.30 pm on Rupavahini channel.

Directed by Pradeep Dharmadasa, the film stars Shalani Tharaka, Malcom Machado, Dasun Chamila and Jayani Senanayake in the stellar cast.

The thirteen episode teleplay narrates around a group of security guards “Seccas” bringing out their desperate lives. Set in an urban backdrop, “Secca Team” shows what achievements life can gain and great source of pride that we can have by winning a championship.

The teleplay talks about the whole spectrum of humanness and the idea of representation. It’s about people working together to rebuild something new for everybody, one country, one nation that promotes reconciliation, multi-dimensional identities and engages across dividing lines.

Presented by Search for Common Ground (SFCG), the teleplay aims to transform social attitudes and diminish violent behaviour in countries grappling with deeply rooted conflict.

The television series addresses the very real divisive issues facing societies in a dozen African, Asian and Middle Eastern countries, using sport as the unifier to surmount barriers.
