French comedies and dramas at AF Colombo
View(s):French comedy ‘Les Beaux gosses’ (The French Kissers) will be screened at 3 pm on December 22 and at 6.30 pm on December 23 at Alliance Française de Colombo 11, Barnes Place, Colombo 7.
Directed by Riad Sattouf this coming-of-age story tells about an adolescent boy and his efforts to fit in amongst a varied cast of characters.
‘Grande école’, a film revolving around a collegian and her boyfriend (Gregori Baquet) compete to see who can seduce and bed a young aristocrat will be screened at 3 pm on December 29 and at 6.30 pm on December 30.
Directed by Robert Salis, the film starts with a group of young people joining one of the grand colleges that form future leaders and where doors to power is in the offing halfway through.
They are the cream of the students and will constitute the elite of tomorrow. But life has always more imagination than us. The grand Colleges and so also grand love affairs are too difficult to live with at times.
The trick of the game and the game of sentiments, emotions and carnal desires stand against in their way to realise the certainties.
They will have to do with themselves, and become what they are perceiving and come to realise that the college which is grandeur is not perhaps the one that is believed to be.
