Monitors give voters score card

View(s):

“Score cards” that voters could use to evaluate candidates are being handed out by election monitors who are emphasising the responsibility of being discerning and knowledgeable voters.  “We have designed a ‘Score Card’ where a person can evaluate the candidate that they prefer to see if he or she is an apt leader. They can also assess the political party with this sheet,” PAFFREL Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi said.

Around half a million of the Score Cards have been distributed. PAFFREL and the Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE), the two major monitoring bodies, are both preparing for election day with over 20,000 officials to be deployed.

Meanwhile the March 12 Movement, which commenced on June 25, will be concluded at Viharamahadevi Park tomorrow at 3pm. The campaign was started to obtain one million signatures to ensure that political parties abstain from giving nominations to corrupt individuals.
