State-owned celco, Mobitel recently partnered with Rotary and the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau in the ‘One Million Tree Stories’ project, which aims to plant one million trees in the country.

Mobitel is supporting this worthy cause of protecting the country’s flora by offering an opportunity for people to sponsor one or more trees at a cost of Rs. 100 per tree either via their mCash Customer Account or via authorised mCash Retailers or Mobitel branches, the company said in a media statement.

Each tree sponsored by a customer will be geo-tagged (Location Tagging) and assigned with a unique number along with the sponsor’s name at www.rotary- tree.com. The plantation of the one million trees will be initially located in Kurunegala district under the supervision of the Departments of Irrigation, Agrarian Services and Forest Conservation.
