How can a club cricketer improve his cricket?
View(s):As for me I came up in cricket to national level due to my own efforts, so with many other cricketers during my era. No financial benefits were given to improve our Cricket. I still feel, it is not financial benefits that help to bring up cricketers at club level, but how each individual applies himself in order to hit the top level and maintain a high level, so that you are capable of performing against any side.
What is surprising is after each World Cup many top Cricketers suggest various programmes to improve cub level cricket but nothing good has happened. This was clearly seen during the World Cup matches this time for the lack of performance of those selected.
Even now former top cricketers suggest changing the tournament structure of the present tournament. Does this help to bring up top cricketers and how is Sri Lanka cricket going to maintain and improve further their cricket year by year that these selected cricketers are fit to perform at any international match.
What I have heard is cricket clubs do not have finances to employ good coaches to improve the level of cricket in their respective clubs. Why some top Cricketers selected by the SLC cannot, visit clubs for a certain period and suggest club coaches what is needed to improve the performances of club cricketers. Mainly by changing the tournament structure does not produce top performing cricketers. I think various top cricketers have joined together to change the tournament structure which has not brought good results. Again the new people come in and want to change the structure of the Tournament. Is this going to be successful?
