Shakya propels Kanrich Finance to six wickets win over NDB

Opening batsman, Shakya de Silva hit a belligerent century (123 in 48 balls inclusive of 8 sixes and 16 fours), as he propelled Kanrich Finance ‘B’ to a fine 6-wicket win over NDB Bank in the ongoing 12th Ceylon Cold Stores PLC sponsored, ‘Elephant House Lemonade’Trophy, MCA Division ‘D’ 40-Over League tournament 2015 continued last weekend.

The other centurion and the top individual scorer for the weekend was Prasad Sanjeewa (133 in 51 balls inclusive of 12 sixes and 12 fours) from McLarens Group against Nations Trust Bank ‘B’.

NTB ‘B’ set up a challenging 243 for 9 in 40 overs, which was easily overhauled by McLarens in just 26 overs, riding on the 175 runs stand for the third wicket between Prasad Sanjeewa and H.A. Sandaruwan (59)

Weekend’s third centurion was middle-order batsman Kalana Ambepitiya, whose sparkling 128 not out in 86 balls, inclusive of 3 sixes and 18 fours, lifted AIA Insurance to a 35-run win over HNB ‘B’.

Sri Lanka Telecom ‘A’ ended Hilton Colombo Residencies’ unbeaten run, beating them by 22 runs; the win fashioned by Kalpa Bandaranayake (92 runs in 56 balls with 3 sixes and 15 fours) and S. Chamara (4 for 25); Last weekend’s centurion, Malintha Gajanayake stroked a fine 68 runs for the hoteliers which fell by the way side.
