Milinda Sepala’s knock of 83 was the feature of the proceedings of the Sara Trophy Division I cricket tournament final between Moratuwa SC and Malay CC which began at the Colts ground yesterday.

The morning session of proceedings saw Moratuwa SC being invited to take first lease of the wicket making steady progress as they went into lunch with a score of 155 for 4 with Milinda Sepala unbeaten on 63 having associated in a valuable 79 runs partnerhip for the fourth wicket with Sahan Perera who chipped in with 41.

The post-lunch session saw Moratuwa SC losing two quick wickets which included the wicket of Milinda who was able only to add another 20 runs for a personal knock of 83 that comprised 12 boundaries.

Moratuwa SC from 200 for 6 at tea break lost wickets at regular intervals and folded up for 220. For Malay CC left arm spinner Dilanka Fernando ended as their top bowler with impressive figures of 4 for 39.

Malay CC in reply got off to an inauspicious start as they lost their first wicket in the first ball of the innings and was tormented by right arm pacie Malshan Mendis before ending day one 44 for 3. The match will be continued today.
