WORLD CUP OR BUST

The indications are that a TV channel, who has already got the rights to cover the World Cup cricket tournament in New Zealand and Australia this month, may come to a grinding halt. The reason is that they will not be in a position to dole out the heavy tax that they will have to pay according to new regulations. They are however going all out to cover the World Cup. If this TV station closes down what will happen to the 160 employees working here. The news is already afoot that they were not paid on the due date. Officials at this TV station are wondering how they could be taxed so heavily when another TV station who curried favour with this regime is due to be taxed only half this amount

SMELLING A RAT

There was a big hoo-hah about women’s cricket a few months ago and as a result a five-year ban was imposed on an official. It looks as if plans are afoot to get this official back on board with certain high ups working on the case. Do you smella rat here?

NO NIGHT RACES

Racing calendar for 2015 was released, certain events, which were in the original calendar, had been removed before the public could see it. One such event was the staging of the Night Races in Kandy in the vicinity of the Dalada Maligawa. Earlier Buddhist Priests had voiced their protests at the staging of these races in Kandy, which is considered a Sacred City.

POOR SHOW

A top cricket official when being questioned about the poor showing of a team presently on tour abroad had stated to the press that there is too much of interference in the selection of the team, especially where spin is concerned. This official had even gone to the extent of throwing mud at the New Official who is at the helm of things.
