NCC taking first lease of the wicket helped by half tons from openers Niroshan Dickwella (55), skipper Upul Tharanga (62), Jehan Mubarak (80), Angelo Perera (54), Tharindu (65) and Sohan Boralessa (50 n.o.) made a mammoth score of 404 against Ragama CC in the Premier league cricket encounter at the NCC ground.

NCC’s innings was studded with three fruitful partnerships with Niroshan and Upul giving them a flying start adding 94 runs. Jehan along with Angelo put on a 133 runs for the fourth wicket which was followed by a 118 runs stand for the eighth wicket between Tharindu and Sohan.

Later NCC was guided by a fine bowling performance by right arm spinner Tharindu Kaushal who ended day two with a four wicket haul as he made Ragama CC struggle for their runs to end the day on 238 for 7. The match will be continued today.

Half tons by Oshada Fernando, Harsha Cooray and Shanuka Dulaj saw Moors SC batting first make 365 in the match against Army SC at Braybrooke Place. Army SC in their turn steered by a knock of 87 from Dilan Soysa made a bold reply of 171 for 3.

An all-round performance by Umesh Karunaratne saw Saracens SC come out on top against SSC in the match at the FTZ ground in Katunayake. Umesh cracked 106, which included 12 boundaries and two sixes and added 142 runs with Geeth Kumara enabled for Saracens SC to make 272. Later Umesh grabbed six wickets to restrict SSC, resuming on their overnight score of 58 for 4, to a score of 198 to give Saracens SC a first innings lead.

Milinda Siriwardena made a top score of 145 while Gihan Rupasinghe chipped in with 105 helping Badureliya CC to dominate against Bloomfield on day two at Reid Avenue. Milinda along with Imesh Udayanga were associated in a 211 runs stand or the second wicket enabling Badureliya CC, resuming on their overnight score of 186 for 1, to make a massive 471 in reply to Bloomfield’s 156 to take a first innings lead.

CCC was well set for an early outright against Chilaw Marians when play ended on the second day at the CCC ground. CCC chasing 135 runs ended the day on 44 for no loss needing a further 91 runs with ten wickets in hand when play gets underway on the final day today.

Colts has already taken a first inning lead over Tamil Union in the match at the Colts ground. Colts in reply to Tamil Union’s 207 resuming on their overnight score of 94 for 3 went on to make 296.
