Sri Lanka pugilists came out on top at the Tri Nation Boxing Meet by winning 14 of the 18 bouts that were worked off at the Slimline BC boxing ring in Pannala recently.

The friendly boxing meet with Singapore and Seychelles being the other two countries to participate was held with the aim of giving the pugilists from the three countries the opportunity of gaining experience in preparation for any international boxing meet which they will be participating in the future.

Sri Lanka’s boxing team included some of the up and coming pugilists who were given an opportunity.

Hosts Sri Lanka fielded boxers in all 18 bouts that were conducted for the day winning all the five bouts in the women’s category and coming out successfully in nine of the 13 bouts in the men’s category.

Singapore’s contingent comprising of 11 boxers was the next best team winning three bouts while Seychelles who fielded seven boxers was able to achieve only one win.
