Slimline FC emerge champions for third successive year
Slimline Fencing Club clinched the Fencing national overall champions’ title for the third successive year when they came out on top at 3rd National Fencing Championship which was held at the MDS auditorium recently.

Slimline FC emerged champions in the inaugural championship in 2012 which was held at the Unichela premises and repeated the feat when it was held at Sariputta MV in Koggala last year.
Slimline FC came out on top in one of the three men’s events which was the Epee event and two of the three in the women’s events comprising of Epee and Sabre events.
Manjula Fernando from the second best team Unichela FC was adjudged the best fencer in the men’s category Unichela FC while the best fencer in the women’s category was Anuruddika Dhananjali from the champion Slimline FC team.
The 3rd National Fencing Championship was conducted by the National Association of Fencing Sri Lanka (NAFSL) spearheaded by its president Dian Gomes a synonymous name in boxing circuit where he headed for five years saw the participation of fencers from nine clubs affiliated to the NASFL.
