London Buddhist Vihara, the oldest Buddhist temple in Europe celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of its founder, Anagarika Dharmapala with a week-long exhibition culminating in a public meeting at the Hammersmith Town Hall last Sunday attended by over 950 members.

Speeches were made by Ajahn Amaro, Abbot of the Amaravati Monastery; Prof. Ven. Bellanvila Wimalaratne, Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayawardhanapura; Dr. Desmond Biddulph, President of The Buddhist Society, UK plus other distinguished speakers. The keynote speaker was Prof. Asanga Tilakaratne, presently the Professor of Pali and Buddhist Studies, University of Colombo.

Pictures show the Chief Monk of the Vihara and Chief Sangha Nayaka of Great Britain, Ven. Bogoda Seelawimala Thera addressing those assembled and a cultural event that took place.
