UMT conducts 7th Unity Camp
View(s):530 student leaders from all parts of Sri Lanka will gather in Mirissa this October, as Unity Mission Trust conducts the 7th edition of their Unity Camp from October 9 – 12. The camp is hosted by Ekamuthu Oray Makal Unity Mission Trust (UMT), a non-profit Trust that is dedicated to fostering unity, integration, healing and reconciliation between the teenaged young leaders in the Wanni area and their peers from all over Sri Lanka.
Unity Camp 7 will include representation from Southern, Northern, Western, Central, Sabaragamu and Eastern Provincial Education Zones. Running under the theme ‘Powering Confidence: Building Leaders’ Unity Camp 7 will – in a carefully structured 4-day programme – have the young leaders in groups to conduct a range of activities to fulfil this objective and create unity and integration. The programme will include sessions with motivational speakers, sports activities, art and craft and drama workshops, as well as several competitions in oratory, music.
The Camp structure also provides leadership training, personal capacity enhancement and the empowering of self-confidence to enable these youth to strengthen Sri Lanka through their unity. Awards and trophies are distributed at the end of the Unity Camp to recognise and further encourage outstanding leadership efforts as well as noticeable achievements in fostering unity and integration.This will be the 18th such programme of “Unity through Leadership” conducted by the Trust since May 2009.
