“Prestantia Musica 2014”: A musical potpourri
View(s):“Prestantia Musica 2014” will go on the boards on October 5 at 6 p.m. at the Tourist Board Auditorium, Colombo 3.
“Prestantia Musica 2014” will showcase musical selections in piano, vocals, violin and guitar, presented by over 100 students of the Prestantia Music School in Moratuwa, directed by Dr. Priyeshni Peiris Perera. The concert will feature selections from timeless musicals and popular themes from movie favourites.
A unique feature of this event is the feature “Piano Ensemble Music” where multiple students will step on stage to make joyful music together on multiple pianos, all at the same time!
The vocal department will lift their voices to showcase selections from musicals such as The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, West Side Story with artistic choreography. Popular movie favourites such as the Star Wars, The Raiders March (John Williams) and Disney favourites among others will be showcased by the piano department. The Young Guitarists and Violinists plan to feature some well-known pop and classical gems.
Guest appearances by the Prestantia Chorale and the “Unikeys” University Piano Ensemble of the University of Visual & Performing Arts will be featured.
