The annual festival at the Munneswaram Badrakaliamman Kovil, Chilaw, ended peacefully on Sep 10, following a decision by Kovil authorities not to allow any animal sacrifice offerings.

Following the Supreme Court decision that a licence should be obtained from the Chilaw Provincial Council if any animal sacrifices were to be made, Kovil authorities decided against such offerings.
