Performing an extract from “Richard III”, St. Benedict’s College, Kotahena, qualified for the boys’ finals of the Inter Schools Shakespeare Drama Competition 2014, held at the Lionel Wendt Theater on September 10 & 11.

The Competition, in its 41st year, was organised by the Rotary Club of Colombo and the Central YMCA. Colombo. As many as 17 leading boys’ schools from the island participated. It is a remarkable achievement of the Benedictines to enter the finals by outshining leading schools such as St. Joseph’s College Maradana, St. Peter’s College Colombo, St. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia and Royal College Colombo.

Sharlon Benedict of St. Benedict’s College was adjudged Best Actor All-Island for his portrayal of Richard III.

DS Senanayake College Colombo, Ananda College Maradana and Maris Stella College Negombo are the other finalists vying for the plum on Saturday, September 20, at the Bishops College Auditorium.
