Top drivers and riders of the country will compete for glory at the fourth leg of the CEAT-Sri Lanka Super Series 2014 which will be held at the Katukurunda Race Track in Kalutara next Sunday.

The previous three rounds have shaped the championship in many categories that are dished out to bring the young talent out. The top category of SL GT Cars up to 3500cc is led by champion driver Ashan Silva followed by Dinesh Jayawardena and Kushan Pieris. The most outstanding events in the championship have been the Formula events, again young drivers trained by the organising clubs who have now excelled in their performance and graduated to top driver levels. The McLarens Formula (carburetor) 1300 is led by Lasitha Naotunna while the McLarens Formula (EFI) 1300 is led by Bryan Perera.

Motor cycle events too show great enthusiasm in both motorcross and circuit races. Many events are conducted to in search of the champions in the two disciplines namely the motorcross and tarmac circuit.

In the motorcross category, top riders such as Gayan Sandaruwan lead the championship while Maduranga Caldera leads the tarmac category. In tarmac circuit category top runners Suraj Perera and Kasun Danushka Sudasinghe are leading the Super Motard 450cc championship and Nadun Pradeep Wijesekera is leading with Maduranga Caldera in hot pursuit in the Modified Motorcycles over 900cc up to 1000cc championship.

The CEAT-Sri Lanka Super Series is organised by three major motor sports clubs, namely the Carlton Motor Sports Club, Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR), and Asian Motor Racing Club (AMRC). The event was inaugurated earlier this year with a long term goal of sending the local drivers and riders to the Asian rounds of the International Motor Racing Series. This series is the only championship in the country with such objective.

The Round 4 of the championship will be flagged off at 9.00am September 14. The sponsors of the event are CEAT, Stafford Motors, Coca Cola, Red Bull, Auto Miraj,Mobil and Macbertan.
