Priya Hemantha and D.M. Pradeep will represent Sri Lanka at the 80th Singha Thailand Amateur Golf Championship which will take place at Panya Indra Golf Club in Bangkok from September 9 to 12.

Sixteen countries from Asia will participate at this tournament including the power house of Asian golf Japan, Taiwan and India. 26 year-old Priya Hemantha, from Victoria Golf and Country Resort, has represented Sri Lanka at the SAARC Golf Tournament in 2011, Sri Lanka Amateur in 2014 and at the Pakistan Amateur Golf Championship in May 2014. He started his golf career at a very young age of

22-year-old Pradeep from the Sri Lanka Navy has represented the country in the All India Amateur Golf Championship in December 2013. He started playing golf at the very young age of 16 at the Victoria Golf and Country Resort, before joining the Navy.

This is the first time that two golfers has been selected to play for Sri Lanka from Victoria Golf and Country Resort. The Royal Colombo Golf Club has been dominating the Sri Lanka teams since mid 1960s. Their dominations have been reduced due to the encouragements and support given by Victoria Golf and Country Resort to non-member golfers. The reserve player of this tour, 23-year-old S. Sashinathan is also from Victoria Golf and Country Resort.
