Noodles: Far Eastern flavours in a stylishly Asian setting

The popular Courtyard of Cinnamon Grand will transform every night into the hotel’s newest culinary escape; Noodles. Aptly named the restaurant will tingle taste buds with the flavours of the Far East with dishes inspired by Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai and Malaysian cuisine. Headed by Vietnamese chef Tran Ba Giang, the menu offers over 70 dishes, both noodle and rice based.

Walking into Noodles is not one’s typical night of Chinese food. The use of earthy tones such as beige and tea contrasts with the intricate tableware authentically complete with traditional Vietnamese and Japanese cutlery and crockery. An island in the middle of the restaurant is transported from its afternoon buffet table to an action kitchen echoing the percussion of sizzling, frying and chopping; a usual occurrence in most restaurants and eateries in the East.

The menu itself offers a range of cocktails, mocktails and wines- some European and others, stylishly encapsulating contemporary Asian cuisine not forgetting the hot and cold sake. Extending the contemporary theme through the appetizers and mains, starters of dumplings, fried ravioli and delicate web like crispy spring rolls are a delight both for the eye and

palate. A variety of sauces and spices garnish each table as the food is made keeping to a traditionally Far Eastern palate and excludes the usually spicy fare Sri Lankans expect. The mains are obviously noodle based but also offer rice dishes to the otherwise inclined. The ardent foodie is invited to over 10 varieties of noodles ranging from the more common Rice, Egg and Vermicelli to Soba, Udon and Sweet Potato, along with satisfying vegetarian dishes, an array of seafood and meats.

The finale to the meal comes with a choice from 10 delicate desserts; mostly Asian inspired including fruity dishes cooked in sweet coconut milk and traditional sweets, but also includes the popular chocolate lava cake and lime cheesecake and exotic desserts such as green tea ice cream.

With the capacity to seat around 50, both indoor and outdoor on the terrace, Noodles is stylishly Asian, with an intimate, cosy atmosphere ideal for a party or a night out with family and friends.

Noodles is located at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel and is open for dinner from 6.30 p.m. to 11.30 p.m. For reservations: 011-2497361/62
