collaboration with the Yachting Association of Sri Lanka, hold the first Royal-Thomian Optimist Sailing Regatta, at Bolgoda Lake on June 28.

Since this is the tournament’s inaugural edition, only students under 15 years of age will participate in the event, which is slated to run from 10.00 am until 4.00 pm.

Sailing was introduced to both Royal and S.Thomas’ at the beginning of 2013 by the Yachting Association of Sri Lanka. The Optimist is a small, single-handed sailing dinghy intended for students younger than 15. It is recognized as an international class boat by the International Sailing Federation.

Students from both schools took part in the Optimist Sailing Event, which was staged as part of the 2014 Carlton Sports Festival held at Tissamaharama. The sailing regatta is open to Old Boys from both schools, present students and parents.
