“Je ne sais quoi” -The Film Festival
Translated from French, which means “the attraction of something, I don’t know what”. Certainly the attraction for Film Festivals, has always been the Glamour of Stars. The most prestigious Film Festivals around the world are Cannes in the South of France, Venice in Italy and the Berlin Film festival. These Film Festivals not only showcase new film makers works but also promote big budget Hollywood films with big stars. Naturally the Stars attend to promote their films. Festivals usually last 3 to 4 days, and take over entire cities.
Many films are screened and panels of Judges narrow down the winners, in each category. Animation, Drama, Love story, Foreign film, Documentary etc. Then there are the best Director, best Actor and Actress selections as well.The Film Festival offers the opportunity to any person with a film to compete in the Grand Prix category for the ultimate prize of the “Palm D’ or” ( Golden olive branch) prize.
Film Makers around the world gravitate to show their craft to those, who are willing to purchase and release them for the world public to see. Today the Internet has many portals that offer Entertainment products to an ever so growing audience worldwide. Many Elite Sponsors, take part in the expensive parties on Yachts, and at elaborate Venues.
The general public, are not invited to these events, admission is usually by invitation only.Let’s look at the Cannes Film Festival for instance, in the beginning of each summer, this festival is held on the French Riviera. Million dollar Yachts line up and moor together, just so they can walk from Yacht to Yacht hobnobbing with the Celebrities, Stars and Socialites. Champagne, and music continue late into the night or early morning.
